Posted By: Leona Merritt- Gomes on February 10, 2011 Talented is the last word I would use to describe me I prefer blessed Not even luck is in my vocabulary I am lyrically brilliant With a voice that is Heaven sent Well-endowed with intelligence This makes me very affluent God has been on my side Since the first novel I decided to write 300 pages could have never been done Without the Father, Holy Spirit and Son Without the Trinity There would be no me No prosperous poet Who sings so beautifully No fashionista No diva No entrepreneur No go-getter No master mind No novelist Just an empty temple And life would be so simple But since I’ve been blessed There has been a plethora of tests To see if my talent Would take me farther than the rest To see if I have What it takes for success Or will I crack under pressure And just make a mess Why dwell on failing When you are far too gifted As long as you don’t look down The Trinity will keep you lifted If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
