UNCF--GALA TO CELEBRATE 40th ANNIVERSARY OF "A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE"®

Posted By: Stacie Coulter on February 21, 2011 On March 3, 2011 at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel, UNCF will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of its iconic motto, "A mind Is a terrible thing to waste"® at the UNCF "A Mind Is" Gala. The Gala's highlight will be the presentation of the UNCF Lifetime Achievement Award to the creators of the famous tagline: Vernon E. Jordan, Jr. who was head of UNCF when the motto was coined, Y&R and the Ad Council in recognition of their work on behalf of minority education. The Gala Co-Chairs are UNCF board members Tamara Harris Robinson Vice President of Robinson Harris Foundation and Mark Mason Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Citi Holdings. WHAT: The UNCF "A Mind Is" 40th Anniversary Gala will include a presentation of the UNCF Lifetime Achievement Award WHEN: Thursday, March 3, 2011 7:30 p.m.-9:15 p.m. Reception begins at 6 p.m. WHERE: New York Marriott Marquis 1535 Broadway New York , N.Y. MORE: This event is open to the public. Individual tickets are $1,000. Tables start at $10,000.
