Vote for Brittini Palmer, Miss VUU for MISS CIAA

Posted By: Rudolph Hickman on February 26, 2011 Calling on all HBCU Alum and friends to vote for Brittini Palmer, Miss VUU for MISS CIAA. Brittini L. Palmer believes everyone has a story and she is proof. While the chapters in her story are still unfolding, Palmer is making her mark on the campus of Virginia Union University (VUU). Brittini is from a small town outside the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (Steelton). She is a rising senior at VUU, majoring in Mass Communications and. Her commitment and dedication to helping others is obvious and she has affiliated herself with several organizations at the University and in the Richmond and Harrisburg communities. Before she was a Panther, Brittini attended Steelton-Highspire High School. In high school, Brittini was the cheerleading captain her junior and senior year, and was chosen as an All-American cheerleader in 2006. She was a member of the History and Literature Club, the Library Club, Yearbook Committee, Homecoming Committee, and chosen as the 2006-2007 Homecoming Queen. She also played softball. Brittini was nitiated into the National Honor Society her senior year and graduate number 5 in her class with a 3.9 GPA. Brittini has a proven ability to lead. Since her freshman year she has been a catalyst for progress. Under her leadership the Virginia Union University Chapter of the NAACP was reactivated in 2009. She has been on the Hartshorn Hall Council, the University Choir, Homecoming Committee, Hartshorn and MacVicar step teams, and the Dining Advisory Committee. She has also served as a feature writer for the VUU Informer and VUU Voices; an English Tutor, and President of VUU-NAACP 2009-2010. Her most recent accomplishment is winning the title of Miss Virginia Union University 2010-2011, standing firm on her platform, Rising Above Adversity Always Striving for the B.E.S.T (Believing in Excellence, Scholarship, and Tenacity). With the community in mind, Brittini volunteers at Manterfly Youth Development, which is a program designed to help children whose parents are incarcerated and children in the Richmond area. Brittini also volunteers with assisting the homeless in the Richmond area, and has been involved with the Big Brother Big Sister Program. In the Harrisburg area, Brittini is a camp counselor at the YWCA -- Young Women Committed to Action--who want to eradicate racism and uplift women and children. Brittini received a proclamation from the Borough of Steelton for what she has done and the accomplishments she has made thus far in her life. Dauphin County applauded her devotion to personal excellence and community service; and in honor Dauphin County declared May 15, 2010 to be “Brittini L. Palmer Day”. Brittini is being raised by her father, and uplifted to know that when she believes she can, she can. On her journey Brittini wants to address injustice, motivate people to follow their passion and achieve in life. Brittini believes nothing is possible without God, and gives honor to him for all her many blessings.
