The students, all with the Fas Trac group with the Mayor’s Youth Empowerment Program, were scheduled to leave Saturday for a week-long tour that would take them to historic sites associated with black history and the civil rights movement and historically black colleges in Tennessee, Alabama and Atlanta. The trip is designed as a way for the students, all but three of whom are black, to learn about their roots and what was done to get them to the place they are at today, said Henri Harper, youth leadership director for MYEP and head of the Fas Trac group.
