Acess Alex- Top 3 Things Men Hate About Women
|
Posted By: Alexandra Coppadge on March 28, 2011 FEATURED Content Decoding a male’s mental psyche can be as challenging as learning the words to a Twista verse. We all know the beginning and the end but stumble and stammer our way through the middle. No doubt about it, the opposite sex is hard to read. But while difficult, understanding a man’s brain is not an impossible task. Although men’s actions and thoughts often leave women bewilder there is a consistent underlying message. Men are inclined to tell women what they want to hear in order to obtain a desired goal, which is typically sex. Disingenuous compliments, false promises and declarations of love are all methods intended to play on women’s emotions. To put it simply, men need women but can’t stand all the emotion and complexity that comes with them. While men are willing to overlook certain actions they deem annoying, there are three female behaviors that men passionately despise. And ladies before you put your foot in the stirrup and climb on your high horse thinking this doesn’t apply to you, keep reading to see how your man really feels. 1) Men might tell you they love you. They may even tell you, “I’m ready to settle down.” But those smooth, ‘How To Be A Player’ lines are far from the truth. Men have extreme commitment phobia. The old ball-and-chain saying exists for a reason! Women seriously pressing the issue for commitment or even marriage could be pushing their man away instead of reeling him in. Unless you’ve already got one, quoting Beyonce’s “Put A Ring On It,” probably isn’t a good idea. 2) We all like when a man says, “Baby, I love spending time with you.” Too bad quality time for him is only a couple hours a couple days of the week. Truth is, men don’t enjoy their significant other being in their space over an extended period of time. What you consider quality time he equates to clinginess. While you might think making plans to see him every day is a sweet gesture he feels smothered. 3) Ladies although we might feel comfortable criticizing and complaining about our man’s friends, men don’t usually share their real feelings about your friends. Sure he says, “Your home girls are cool.” But honestly, he can’t stand them. Do you notice how he leaves the room whenever they are around? Men loathe women gossiping, and they hate when women share details about their relationship with friends, especially single friends. Men are definitely tricky to figure out, but that is because men and women don’t think the same. Women are driven by emotions and men are motivated by the physical, sex. Instead of fighting this difference, women should embrace the idea of understanding the male psyche. It is important to emphasize that understanding a man doesn’t mean you have to dumb yourself down to think like one! Hello Alexandra, I fully understand the overall intent of your article. In remaining intellectually honest, I think your article is a glaring example of hasty generalizations about Black men. For example, when you used Ms. Knowles as a point of reference, your article clearly lost any credibility. Further, where's your sources this article(i.e., those who work in the marriage counseling field, or previously written academic articles)? In fact, I would even venture in saying this article is nothing more than a written version of BET or MTV. That said, I would highly suggest that you write an article on why the neoliberal, liberal, and conservative media continues to perpetuate negative stereotypes of Black males. While there are indeed some gross generalizations and definitely assumptions about the maturity level of the male, I have often observed those behaviors more closely associated with the individual's Myers-Briggs personality type. About 75% of males are "Thinker" types and the other 25% "Feelers". The reverse is true of females. Much of the behaviors of individuals are more closely tied to their basic personality type then to their s*x. http://www.myersbriggs.org/my-mbti-persona... Monday, April 25th 2011 at 3:48PM |

Re: Randy, I would like to know why are you using a Eurocentric based personality metrics to explain the behavior of Black males. That only, is a classic example of White ontological expansiveness highest order and a perpetuation of White authority. Do you think that millions of Blacks (i.e., degree[s] holding or not) somehow still believe that the collective White community will accept them as an equal individual of superior merit, even if he won't accept other Black people? Final question, do you think HBCUs were dully created to serve as institutions to develop a cadre of Black people to serve in the interests of the collective White community? I lookf forward in hearing your response. Uhambe Khale(Go well, in isiZulu)! Michael Monday, April 25th 2011 at 11:22PM |
