Posted By: Marta Fernandez on March 29, 2011 On my last post I talked about the Blue Collar mindset. First of all Michele Bachman would probably want to run as a woman on the ticket. However, her speech as she spoke at Steve Kings Leadership PAC was too Palin-esque to be considered a vital contender. She is skilled in obsfuscating facts, despite or because she is a former federal tax lawyer ushering in a new art soon to be duplicated. Let's see the day before President Obama was elected she shrills, the gas was at $1.83 -and then elicits from the audience is it time for a change? Next numbers game... 35% the corporate tax rate-as she reads from her prepared notes-the highest corporate rate in the world? who pays that? Why us of course! Yes you guessed it, you Iowans are paying for that. But why worry about that Michelle, with your plan we will have a flat tax rate right? highly implausible. It's never going to happen. What a lie. This is white America talking, not the United States of America's citizens. Two different breeds. Oil giant Exxon made a $45 billion profit in 2009, but paid no taxes ... Citigroup had 4 quarters of billion-dollar profits in 2010, but paid no taxes. She goes on after bragging about her seven generations of descendancy from Norway, to say my husband and I built a business in Minnesota. Minnesota? after sweet talking the audience as to how strong, and stalwart and get this intelligent Iowan's are , did we miss something? She came in like a raging heifer ready to rally the crowd basing her plan for a better America on not only attacking the President but Nancy Pelosi. 'Number 1" she drones, the number of drilling permits since the Obama administration. "He is unable to use energy resources in the U.S."... and it's all his fault of course that the jobs have been outsourced overseas. Which jobs are you referring to Michelle? Those were mostly in call centers, customer service, and manufacturing. How is this administration responsible for that? The OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) compiles data for the 30 nations that are members. The United States is #2 and the highest taxed nation is Japan. But what's a little lie between friends? you can always argue the points on the index. She goes on and underscores the talking head topics of the day that drones on at Fox or (Faux News) but at the end of the day, the talk is cemented by 1. racial solidarity. 2. the so called hard working Americans, though she certainly didn't talk much about farming, a staple industry of the Midwest and that old tired mantra about her seven generation ancestors trodding on to the "land of milk and honey".She should've been talking about being a solid American, after 100 years. These are the words that solidify the blue collar, white segment of America. Once they hear these words, it drones out common sense and critical thinking. I don't think it's going to work this time.
