Colin Powell to speak at S.C. State

Having Powell, a retired U.S. Army general who served in high positions in three administrations, address graduates is a coup for S.C. State, the subject of unflattering press attention in recent years. “This is a coup for us because of our rich military heritage,” said S.C. State President George Cooper. Powell, 73, served in the U.S. Army for 35 years. He was President Ronald Reagan’s national security adviser, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff under President George H.W.
