Proposed SUNO-UNO merger expected to be battle in legislature

The 2011 legislative session begins Monday. And one of the most contentious issues is the proposed merger of UNO and SUNO. "Our schools have been slowly dying for many, many decades," said Sen. Conrad Appel, R- Metairie, who wrote the bill that would merge the two universities. "And no one has ever come up with a proposal or plan to turn that around.
