Local film kicks off Rosenwald School Conference at UNCW

Posted By: Stacie Coulter on April 28, 2011 By Chris Mudarri: Area history comes alive this week with a film premier kicking off the second national Rosenwald School Conference hosted by UNCW. “Every setting for us was a learning setting,” Pender County Training School alumna Ida Daniel Dark says in the documentary film “Under the Kudzu.” Dark and her brother, John T. Daniel Jr., share memories of growing up on the school campus with their parents. Her mother was teacher Leona B. Daniel, and her father, John T. Daniel Sr., was the school's principal for 30 years.
