"What does the Death of Bin Laden REALLY mean to You/America and is it appropriate we publicly celebrate."

"What does the Death of Bin Laden REALLY mean to You/America and is it appropriate we publicly celebrate."

Will the death of Bin Laden unite us in mourning and love or in revenge and hate? Will his death bring back the thousands of lives that were loss not only on 9/11 but during the last 10 years of war and terrorism? Is this closure for you?

Unconfirmed photo of Bin Laded dead: http://img.pikchur.com/pic_Af0J_l.jpg

While watching President Obama announce to the world that they have found and killed Osama Bin Laden,.my first reaction was not of joy like I thought it would be but of sadness. Sadness because as I watch the news tonight I ask myself if it is appropriate to celebrate the death of a human being, but to many the death of Osama bin Laden appears is an exception. Does it ease our pain? Does it give us comfort? People are putting politics aside and celebrating a common thing, and really appreciating what our military and those involved have done... I saw crowds chanting USA, rejoicing, waving flags and running in the streets, even unfortunately egging some Muslim businesses (Which totally should never happen). I understand the reaction but I am still conflicted and I need to hear what others believe. These people may have lost love ones in 9/11 or knew someone who died at the hands of terrorism but why does this thing make me feel so uncomfortable?

Seeing the thousands of people rejoicing at ground Zero and at the White House and in the streets and the first thing that comes to my mind was one of the first images I saw after 9/11 of the thousands of people in the middle east burning American Flags and celebrating when the towers went down. Now is the time to be on an even HIGHER alert for the fight on Terror goes on. Osama has been more of a shell figure so to speak and the death of Osama bin Laden unfortunately does not mean the end of the al Qaeda. Now the question remains as to what difference is this going to make to continued military presence of the US in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc..

You think all the military presence and trillions of dollars and soldiers lives were in the service of killing Osama bin Laden as one of its primary goals? What is going to happen now to the “War on Terror”?

I honestly don't know whether I should rejoice that this mastermind of evil has been eradicated, or weep because he was never able to regret his wicked deprivation. The fate of this man is now in the hands of a just judge. He was an unrepentant murderer who continued to be a threat to people of peace throughout the world.

This is not a night of death, but of life for all his future victims, and those who would die at the hands of those fueled by his hate. It’s time to pray! We still have soldiers on their soil and they probably have sleeper cells on our soil and we know that retaliation is almost certain. God bless our troops!! Celebrate this “Victory” if you must but keep our soldiers in your prayers.

Terrorism is an ideal. Not an institution. You cannot kill an ideal with guns. Attacking an ideal with guns only makes it stronger. Enlightenment is the only way to win this war. Not guns. Not bombs. Enlightenment…

I am in total agreeance with you. I feel the same way about this. When I had heard Osama had been killed I was totally speechless at all the happiness and rejoicing of the USA. I am a firm believer of the the Word of God. We are indeed living in the last and EVIL days.
