Predominantly black college in the small urban setting, with commuter campus, the college houses nearly 5000 degree seeking students forming diverse student community.Brief HistoryEstablished in 1927 as b ranch of Alabama State College in Montgomery , Alabama , the College offered extension courses for teachers for 9 years. Two year college was established in September, 1936. Declared as mobile center and state junior college in 1965, the college was named Mobile State Junior College and renamed as Bishop State Community College in 1989.
