Knights prep for a run at national bragging rights

Posted By: Eddie Francis on May 24, 2011 The Southern University at New Orleans men’s track team will compete at the 60th Annual Men’s NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Marion, Indiana from May 26th to May 28th. The Knights have qualified for five events. 200 meter dash Sheldon Williams is ranked 9th in the NAIA with a qualifying time of 21.23 seconds, and Peter McFarlane goes into the meet ranked 34th with a time of 21.65. 400 meter dash All-American Norbert Miller enters the championship with a time of 47.77 and ranked 16th. Williams is ranked 29th with a time of 48.29. 400 meter hurdles Having made an impression the national level when he finished third in the national championships, Miller returns ranked 10th in the country with a qualifying time of 53.34. 4 x 100 meter relay The SUNO team goes in ranked 10th with a time of 41.28. 4 x 400 meter relay The University’s bread and butter event, SUNO’s team time is 3:15.62 with a ranking of 15th in the country. The Knights are coached by Yhann Plummer (pictured) who is in his fifth season as the men’s and women’s Cross Country/Track & Field head coach.
