Tell me, what happened to HIP-HOP?

Tell me, what happened to HIP-HOP?

Where are we goin with hip-hop nowadays? I turn on the radio and keep hearin the same weak shyt....Hip-hop has no diversity or color now? Why is that? What happened to the public enemies, digable planets, delasouls and KRS-Ones.

How come i have to keep lookin underground for something thought provoking? I thought we gettin better when Kayne started and bringin back old time faves (common, talib) but now we're are stuck in the rut that is hos, ice, alchohol and cars. Gosh I'm sad...maybe i should make my own label...We'll shoot a Ni99a INC....Get some choruses from 1970 disco songs alternate the beat a bit, throw in somethin about me bein a ho lookin for a real g sell a million copies to wanna be thugs and suburban white kids and then declare bankruptcy after Arista steals my label for not being "black" enough...yea maybe not.

Hip hops gettin old that's what. You gotta go back. Way back to old school. Cats like Charlie Parker, Trane, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie. They are the backbone of what we call hip hop today. Then with the next generation of the Tower of Power, Earth, Wind, & Fire, The Isley Brothers, Jackson 5. All them gave us that funk sound. Hip hop is just a fad like every other genre of music. It comes and goes. Personally, I hoped it would stay but who knows. I go for both old school and new. You have to go back to understand what's here now, though.
