Posted By: Stacie Coulter on June 22, 2011 By news release: Stuart attorney Willie Gary served as the keynote speaker at the Shorter Jr. College Accreditation Celebration Gala, which served as a fundraiser for academic scholarships, in North Little Rock, Ark. Gary spoke to an audience of nearly 500 people, focusing on making an effort to always strive for excellence, according to a news release from Gary's office. Gary, is noted for taking on some of America's most powerful companies. He and his wife, Gloria Gary, founded The Gary Foundation, which provides college scholarships to at-risk students who wish to attend college. The Garys have donated millions of dollars to help historically black colleges and universities – including $10 million to their alma mater Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C.
