Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 16, 2011 – The Departments of Behavioral and Community Health Sciences (BCHS) and Epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh are seeking to fill a full-time joint tenure stream faculty position. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in public health or related social science discipline. Annual salary will be competitive and commensurate with background/experience. Reappointment will be dependent upon satisfactory performance of job responsibilities and satisfactory progress toward successful tenure review. The academic responsibilities of this position include research, teaching and service, all of which are to be interdisciplinary in character. The successful candidate should have strong statistical training and be able to function both as a statistician/epidemiologist and have experience in conducting research focusing on risk and protective factors for the development of health problems over time, with particular focus on advanced longitudinal methodology. Expertise in modeling and simulation, particularly in regard to relationships between social networks and behavior change would also be welcome. The successful applicant will have a successful record in applying for NIH R01 grant support. A strong record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required. The incumbent will also serve as a resource in the development for statistical analysis sections of grant/contract proposals that originate within the Departments, and will be expected to collaborate with a number of research groups within the Departments. Related activities include teaching in BCHS’s DrPH and PhD Programs, mentoring and advising master’s and doctoral degree students as well as post-doctoral trainees, and serving on essay and dissertation committees.
