Golf

Schwartzel was so mad at making a bogey on the par-5 18th that he bashed a driver on No. 1 that set up birdie. He followed with five more birdies on the next six holes and shot another 66.

Scott, whose first PGA Tour win came at the TPC Boston in 2003, had a 63. Watson played earlier Saturday and shot 64. The leaders were at 10-under 132.

Cross Country

OSU dominates Hurricane Festival: Oklahoma State's men's and women's teams each turned in dominating performances at the Hurricane Festival. The dual scores from the event reflect the strong performances as the men went 3-0 and the women finished 5-0. The defending back-to-back national champion Cowboys' top five runners all finished in the top 10. Redshirt freshman Kirubel Erassa led the way with a first-place finish, completing the four-mile race in 20:25.

The Cowgirls' top five runners also placed in the top 10, led by true freshman Monika Juodeskaite, who was second with a time of 11:18 in the two-mile race.

TU's Whiting wins Hurricane Festival: Tulsa's Paula Whiting kicked off her senior campaign by winning the Hurricane Festival at Mohawk Park. Whiting took the women's two-mile race with a personal-best 10:55.

Tulsa went 4-1 in the team duals, besting Oklahoma (15-45), Arkansas-Fort Smith (15-45), Oklahoma Wesleyan (15-45) and Missouri State (18-40). Oklahoma State narrowly defeated the Golden Hurricane 25-31.

OU men second, women fourth: Oklahoma opened the season at the Hurricane Festival, finishing second in the men's division and fourth in the women's division.

The No. 6 men placed three runners in the top five, led by Taylor Wardall who finished the four-mile course in third with a time of 20 minutes, 27 seconds.

The top finisher for the OU women on the two-mile course was Molly Ferguson, who crossed in 18th with a time of 12:36.

Volleyball

Sooners wins twice at tournament: No. 17 Oklahoma made quick work of tournament host North Texas at the North Texas Invitational in Denton, Texas, needing just over an hour to sweep the Mean Green (25-8, 25-19, 25-12). The Sooners (6-1) then defeated Sam Houston State, 27-25, 25-21, 25-16. Oklahoma's front net presence proved to be too much for the Mean Green (3-3). OU outblocked North Texas 12 1/2-1. Against Sam Houston State, the Sooners hit .278 and outblocked the Bearkats 8-4. Suzy Boulavsky led the Sooners with 11 kills, while Grace Whitley added eight kills and five total blocks, two solo.

TU splits a pair at tournament: Tulsa defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 3-0, then fell to UC Davis, 3-0, at the Park Inn Hurricane Invitational at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Junior libero Jessica Adams tallied 18 digs to lead Tulsa (4-3) to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-10) defeat of UAPB, then had 14 kills against UC Davis.
