Here is a draft of a children's book, my son, Kasan Butcher and I are finalizing. Since doing the illustrations for the children's book, "My Name Is Freedom", I have had many people contact me to do work for them. But, that was when I got distracted into blogging. I, also, then realized that this was just the opportunity to utilize the Net for what it is worth. I have several manuscripts screaming to be heard : ) One series of books, "Kiwan, the Hike Master"; about a young member of the hiking association, who began at 2 and is now 13 years old. The concept is to use the info. covering the history, plants and folklore, that Olasse Davis provides on every trail, we hike in the Virgin Islands. Educating through Kiwan's interpretation of each of the trails here on St. Croix. The information put into dialogue form, add the illustrations, book done. This can be animated and broadcasted. Greetings Ms. Morton, Thank you for the feedback and your support. My ultimate goal is to set up some sort of publishing operation here, on St. Croix. As an educator, I am not in the home, but to address the literacy issue, intergrading art and reading /literature would be my approach. Today, I would encourage children reading to each other, and to their parents, books they have written and illustrated themselves. I can not quote, but some where it says, the the children shall lead, to me it's time, their parents are Loss. Let the kids take back into their homes, reading books, again; infecting their families, just like how they do, when they bring home a cold or flu from school : ) Wednesday, September 14th 2011 at 8:04AM |
