DOVER, Del.- Philadelphia Eagles center and former Delaware State University standout Jamaal Jackson has announced that he plans to attend the 2011 DSU Athletics Hall-of-Fame ceremony in which he and 12 others will honored next month.

The university's 12th Hall-of-Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony is set for Friday, Oct. 7 at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Dover.

In addition to Jackson, 11 former Hornet greats and one administrator will be enshrined.

Jackson is in his ninth season with the Eagles. The Miami, Fla., native was a standout with the Hornets from 1999 to 2002, setting a school record with 45 consecutive starts.

Delaware State's 2011 Hall-of-Fame class also includes former NFL standout Darnerian McCants, a 2001 grad. McCants played six seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Washington Redskins, Eagles and Baltimore Ravens. As a senior atDSU in 2000, he was named to three All-America teams after leading all Division I-AA players with 18 touchdown receptions, which still stands as DSU and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference records.

The 2011 DSU Hall of Fame class also features former football standouts Terrance Hoover (posthumous), Chuck Poplos, Brian Randall, Lybrant Robinson and Walter Tullis.

In addition, DSU will honor former track & field stars Tiffany Barnes, Douglas Lynes-Bell and Jessica Gilbert-Wilson, basketball greats James Roundtree and Mandy Clark, along with former sports information director Maxine Lewis during the hall-of-fame ceremony.

Hoover, who died last December after a long illness, is DSU's all-time leader with 3,517 rushing yards. A two-time All-MEAC First Team selection, he was a member of the Hornets' 1985 & '87 MEAC championship teams.

Randall was a two-time All-America and All-MEAC defensive back with the Hornets before signing with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs in 1994. Poplos was a three-time All-MEAC punter. Randall and Poplos helped lead the Hornets to the 1991 MEAC championship.

Robinson, a defensive lineman, was a member of the Hornets' first MEAC championship team in 1985. He was selected by the NFL's Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 1989 draft.

Tullis was a standout defensive back and kick returner for the Hornets in the mid-1970s.

Barnes, Lynes-Bell and Gilbert-Wilson each competed in the NCAA Track & Field National Championships during their record-setting careers at DSU.

A member of DSU's 2002 MEAC Women's Indoor Championship team, Barnes took first place in the MEAC 400-meter dash and was a member of the Hornets' conference championship distance medley relay squad.

Lynes-Bell was a record-setter, MEAC champion and NCAA championship competitor in the 400-meter hurdles at DSU.

Gilbert-Wilson is DSU's all-time record holder in the indoor triple jump. A MEAC champion and NCAA championship qualifier, she was also a member of the Hornets' 2002 MEAC women's indoor title team.

Roundtree is recognized as one of the greatest big men in DSU men's basketball history, collecting more than 1,000 points and nearly 850 rebounds from 1971 to 74.

Clark was the MEAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Year in 2004 season. A two-time All-MEAC First Team selection, she led the Lady Hornets to the conference championship game in 2003 and '04.

Lewis was DSU's first full-time sports information director. She was the first woman to hold the position in the MEAC and among just a handful of females to perform the job in the nation at the time of her appointment. Lewis also served as a publicist for ABC Sports in New York.
