Earl Holmes

Posted By: Parise B. Bailey on October 07, 2005 Holmes started at middle linebacker for Detroit the past two seasons (2004-2005). A consistent producer on defense, he has led his team in tackles each of the past six seasons (1999-04), including a Lions' team-high 128 in 2004. Holmes was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft and in six years with Pittsburgh, he started in 79 of the 81 games he played in and led the team in tackles in each of his final three seasons (1999-01). He signed with the Cleveland Browns for the 2002 season and started all 16 games. Holmes will be inducted into the Florida A&M Sports Hall of Fame on September 2, 2005.
