HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - Wide receiver G'Alonzo Milton, who missed last Saturday's game against Southern for violating team rules, has been reinstated and is expected to play Saturday against Tuskegee, Alabama A&M coach Anthony Jones said Wednesday.
"G'Alonzo was punished for violating team rules and his suspension has been lifted," Jones said. "I anticipate him playing this weekend."
Milton, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior, was the team's leading receiver a year ago with 30 catches for 517 yards and four touchdowns. He had three catches for 28 yards in the season opener against Hampton.
Quarterback problems
Tuskegee coach Willie Slater played two quarterbacks in last week's 33-19 loss to Langston.
Jeremy Williams played the first half and completed 9 of 16 passes for 144 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Terry Bradden played the second half and was 6 of 19 for 43 yards.
"We have some work to do at quarterback," Slater told the Montgomery Advertiser. "We'll look at the film and see what really happened, then I'll decide."
Williams started against A&M two years ago in the Circle City Classic.
The Golden Tigers jumped out to a 15-0 lead early in the second quarter before the Bulldogs scored 35 unanswered points to take the 35-15 victory.
Williams was 9 of 20 for 171 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was sacked six times.
A&M defensive coordinator Brawnski Towns has studied both quarterbacks on film.
"They're throwing the ball more than they've done in the past," he said. "I don't know if they've got problems along the offensive line, but they're not running the ball as much as they've run in the past. Coach Slater has a system adn we've got to defend the system."
Tuskegee has a pair of transfer running backs that Towns says A&M has to corral.
Demario Pippen, who transferred from Jackson State, had 20 yards on six carries against Langston. Terrell Edwards-Maye, a transfer from Marshall, didn't play against Langston.
"Pippen is quick as a cat and can really run," Towns said. "We've got to contain him."
Bulldogs respond
Jones has raised the bar at practice this week and he likes how his team has jumped on board.
"They've responded, but the ultimate response will be Saturday," he said. "They understand the urgency we need to play with because we're getting ready to play a good football team.
"Tuskegee has a lot of history, a lot of good players, a lot of pride and they're coming here to beat us. We're going to have to bring our absolute best to have a chance of beating them."
