Rutgers Volleyball Defeats Howard University

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (September 10, 2011) Rutgers University volleyball defeated Howard University, 3-1, in its second match of the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the College Ave Gym. Brittany Bozzini (Saratoga, Calif.) helped lead the Scarlet Knights to victory with an overall good game with 12 kills, five digs and four assists.
Rutgers (5-6) took the first set, 25-21, marking the third match in a row that the Scarlet Knights have won the first set. Sofi Cucuz (Crown Point, Ind.) led the Scarlet Knights with three kills and two digs.
The Scarlet Knights also took the second set 25-20, before falling to the Bison (1-9), 25-19, in the third. Tosin Elebute led Howard with 10 kills and nine digs in the match. Riana Cain had 13 digs.
Rutgers won the fourth set, 25-13, to take the match. Stephanie Zielinski (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finished with 36 assists.
Earlier Saturday, Binghamton (5-6) defeated Princeton, 3-1.
