Annual walk for kids on Saturday

The Rainbow Connections 9th Annual Walk for Kids at Detroit Zoo is Saturday, Sept. 10. Registration at the Detroit Zoo begins at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. Entry fees are $25 for individuals and $50 for families, which includes free parking, admission to the zoo, continental breakfast and t-shirt. Alabama band to perform Friday

The Alabama State University Marching Band will perform The Sting during a collegiate field show rehearsal from 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Oak Park High Schools newly renovated stadium. There is no charge to the public. Graduating students interested in attending Alabama state, will have the opportunity to audition that day as well. The marching Hornets, under the direction of James B. Oliver, will be rehearsing for the Alabama State vs. Eastern Michigan football game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10 Oak Park High School is at 13701 Oak Park Boulevard. The Michigan Humane Society is holding an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at PetSmart, 2724 S.
