ATLANTA | Jamila McKinnis, an outside hitter for the Stillman College volleyball team, has been named the Volleyball Player of the Week in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
McKinnis recorded 65 kills in five matches, including 56 in Birmingham-Southerns Mak Attack Tournament. She also posted a .223 hitting percentage.
At the Mak Attack Tournament, the 5-foot-8 senior recorded a triple-double with 12 kills, 13 assists and 10 digs against LaGrange. She also had a pair of double-doubles with 18 kills and 10 digs against Huntingdon and 10 kills and 10 assists against Piedmont.
For the week, McKinnis recorded 48 assists and 47 digs while also contributing nine blocks and nine service aces for the Lady Tigers. She helped lead Stillman to a season-opening win against Judson College in three sets.
McKinnis recorded 18 kills with a .469 hitting percentage Wednesday in a 3-0 loss at Alabama State. Januar Page led Stillman with 19 assists.
Stillman will host the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Friday and Saturday. All matches will be at Birthright Gymnasium.
