Stillman's Thomas gets SIAC honor TuscaloosaNews.com^[2]September 6, 2011 11:37 PM ATLANTA | Stillman College linebacker Jarell Thomas was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Shaw in the Tigers' season opener.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 225-pound senior from Dothan, made 11 tackles, including half a tackle for loss, with an interception, a forced fumble, a pass break-up and a quarterback hurry in Stillman's 16-13 victory.

Stillman quarterback Dondre Purnell got honorable mention after running for 130 yards on 14 carries while going 5-of-6 for 41 yards passing.



Punter Ronnie Partridge got honorable mention for his 39.2-yard average on six punts, with a long boot of 62 yards.
