Baton Rouge, Louisiana - On the heels of a scintillating 308-yard, 3 TD performance in the Jaguars 21-6 win Saturday, QB Dray Joseph claimed his third Player of the Week honor earning SWAC Offensive Player of the Week honor Tuesday.
Joseph earned both the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's and Beyond Sports Network's offensive player of the week honors earlier this week.
In Saturday's win over Alabama A&M, Joseph's first two passes went for touchdowns and the Jaguars sprinted out to a 14-0 lead. On the first play from scrimmage, Joseph hit WR LaQuinton Evans on a quick slant and raced for a 72-yard score.
On the Jaguars ensuing possession, Joseph found WR Charles Hawkins for a 57-yard TD.
By halftime, Joseph had thrown for 242 yards and 3 TDs. Currently, Joseph leads the SWAC in passing efficiency (157.82).
The Edgar, La. native leads the Jaguars in a pivotal SWAC showdown versus Jackson State Saturday in A.W. Mumford Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:07 p.m. and will be televised live on SWAC-TV via swac.org and taped delayed on Cox Sports Television.
