SC State's Ellis Earns MEAC Weekly Honor

Posted By: HBCU Connect Sports on September 25, 2011 NORFOLK, Va., South Carolina State senior defensive back was named Dominique Ellis[1] was named Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Ellis (DB, 5-11, 195, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) recorded nine tackles, six solo, with two interceptions and one pass breakup in the Bulldogs' 26-18 win over Bethune-Cookman. Ellis performance highlighted a Bulldog defensive stance that forced five turnovers including one interception in which he returned 55-yards for a touchdown.
Also, earning honors were Hampton's David Legree was named Offensive Player of the Week; Howard's Greg McGhee earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Hampton's Vincent Harper was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. Hampton's Taurean Durham and Norfolk's Ryan Estep were both named Co-Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.Other Top Bulldog Performances: Darius Drummond[2] (SCSU) recorded 137 total return yards including 89 punt return yards on three attempts.
