Posted By: How May I Help You NC on November 21, 2011 The University of Nevada, Reno seeks a creative Instructional Designer with a passion for teaching. The Instructional Designer supports faculty in the development of teaching and learning strategies and applications utilizing instructional technologies and participates in workshops, training programs and consultation services for faculty on course design and web course development. This includes providing consulting support to faculty in course design and developing appropriate teaching/learning applications of technologies, keeping abreast of emerging instructional design theories and instructional technology applications; assisting faculty in the development of web-based courses, using course management tools for support of Web-based, hybrid, and Web-enhanced courses; providing faculty seminars, workshops and consulting services on course design, web course development, personal productivity software, and special presentation software; producing instructional materials; and evaluating and assessing instructional materials and workshops for effectiveness and success. The University of Nevada, Reno, the land-grant University and a major research institution in the state, has a student body of over 18,000. In 2008, Instructional Design moved into a new facility, the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, shared with the Libraries. The Knowledge Center provides 295,000 square feet of high-tech research, presentation, and computing spaces. The award winning building is a campus showpiece, offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. The shared facility and organizational structure offer opportunities to collaborate with professionals in media production, libraries, and other specialties. The University is situated in Reno, a metropolitan area of nearly 400,000, on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city is conveniently located 38 miles from Lake Tahoe, a world-class skiing area with limitless summer and winter recreational opportunities. Online applications accepted.
