7 Qualities & Attitudes of a Successful Student

7 Qualities & Attitudes of a Successful Student
Posted By: Shauntae Jordan on November 29, 2011

1. Start with Direction

Not developing a plan is as wreckless as driving with no steering wheel. You will not arrive at a promising destination. Have you ever gotten into the car, but had no clue where you were going? That is how your life is without a plan. Without a plan, you plan to fail when conducting a plan you should envision your end results.

Example:
My plan is to complete four years of college. My plan is to gain a leadership role in an organization. My plan is to become a successful business owner.

Once you determine a destination (the future, goal, place) the purposeful planning starts.

2. Understand life offers you challenges:

There will be roadblocks, pitfalls, and ditches that you may experience. It is important for you to understand that you will have to go through in order complete the journey. The way you overcome the challenges of life is determine upon your attitude. If you have a negative outlook the outcome will be negative. If you have a positive outlook the outcome may very well be positive. While facing the challenges you begin to unlock your fullest potential. At this point you discover an authentic you and learn your strength.

Here are some questions to ask you when faced with challenges:
a. What is the ultimate challenge I am experiencing? (What is happening?)
b. How do I feel in the experience? (sad, discouraged, frustrated, happy)
c. Where is my focus in this experience? (on the good, the bad, or the ****)

3. Courage to go for your goals:

Do you know what the number one complaint or excuse is from people regarding accomplishing their goals? No it is not Money! No it is not Time!

It’s Courage! Many people choose not to move forward with their goals because they don’t have the courage to do so. In order to maximize your success level you must take action. Courage to do so may mean leaving your comfort zone. What makes you feel good currently may need to make you uncomfortable temporarily to maximize your success.

4. Charitable spirit t144xo help others:

Giving back to others allows you the opportunity to experience someone else’s circumstance. Often time’s people feel as though they have it bad until they realize someone else has it worse. When you allow yourself momentarily to experience the needs of someone else you begin to value the person you are within and your current position. There are numerous community efforts that you can volunteer your time.

5.

Esteem to believe in yourself:

Have you lost the STEAM! I am certain that at times you have been your biggest critic. Tearing you apart and beating yourself up for whatever reason. Belief in self requires that you love you. The core of yourself is you, and there is no way around it. You can have a wall full of degrees, a case full of trophies and an array of accolades, but if you don’t’ believe that you are design for greatness and that you possess greatness you will forever be in empty. You must feed your inner core daily with motivation, positive talk, and true love for yourself.

6. Self-Confidence to do what you desire:

You must be realistic in one’s own judgment, ability, and power. How you feel about your ability to achieve success determines how far you will go. No one will be able to tell you that you are successful if you don’t think so yourself. What judgment have you made about yourself regarding your success level? To gain self-confidence you must develop your skills, your strengths, and uncover your weaknesses.

**Tip to increase your self-confidence:
For 30 days make a daily list of areas in which you are extremely confident, confident, least confident.

Day 1: I am extremely confident in reading.

Day 1: I am confident in speaking in front of the class.

Day 1: I am fearful of taking test.

This activity can have as many strengths and weaknesses as you wish per day. This activity allows you to reveal your strengths. You also become honest with yourself about the areas in which you wish to improve. When you state the areas that you are least confident you become aware of areas of improvement. These areas can be addressed with Empowerment Coach on a weekly, monthly or, daily basis. As you work through those areas you become more self-confident.

7. Self-Acceptance to know that you are not perfect

The key to success is to know that the path is not straight in narrow. In fact, the road to success is curvy, bumpy, rocky, and hilly. It is important for you to know that to gain success you must accept your flaws, your failures, your best, and your imperfections. Those list of flaws, failures, and imperfections develop you.

You will never be me, her, him, or them. You will forever be you. It is important to explore daily who you are and what you design to be. You will find that there is no one like you. You are unique and designed to fulfill a purpose designated for only you. When you accept yourself you will find that you will be less stressed and deliver the best you.
