Still No Zero Crime Plan for East Highland Park

Posted By: Rudolph Hickman on December 01, 2011 In a matter of hours, it will have been 10 days since the passage of what is commonly referred to as the shoot-out in East Highland Park. On Thanksgiving those who reside and work in this East End community didn't have to look too far for blessings. We were thankful to be alive and uninjured by the sporadic gunfire that punctuated the usual calm that exists in this troubled neighborhood. That is, until the sun goes down and the neighborhood is transformed into an open-air supermarket selling all the ills you tell your children to stay away from. As day 10 looms, there has been no public denouncement of the chaos that went on here last week by any city or state official. There has been no display of outrage that such an event could occur within close proximity to a church with a day care center, or that it occurred during the height of the day when men, women and children are most active and likely to be outside on the streets. Not a whimper nor a word publicly. Likewise, there have been no visits to the community, no public words to reassure residents, no promises that this kind of random violence will not be tolerated. So here's the thing, how can our leadership purport to lead us to Tier One status, when none has taken the time to visit this crime riddled neighborhood or even speak on what has occurred here from the safety of City Hall or The State Legislative Offices Building or The John Marshall Courts Building? more at; http://www.examiner.com/african-american-c...
