The mission of Kappa Alpha Psi as an international fraternal association, is to

exemplify leadership and honorable achievement. It is dedicated to the enrichment of its membership and recognized as a positive force in the communities it serves.



January 5, 1911 on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, Kappa Alpha Psi was founded by Elder Watson Diggs, most affectionately known as 'The Dreamer', Dr. Ezra D. Alexander, Dr. Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Atty. Henry Tourner Asher, Dr. Marcus Peter Blakemore, Paul Waymond Caine, George Wesley Edmonds, Dr. Guy Levis Grant, Edward Giles Irvin, and Sgt. John Milton Lee.





This organization seeks to train its membership, especially undergraduates, for leadership roles in their respective communities and the attainment of a high degree of excellence in their academic pursuits.
