What's wrong with Pastor's doing it big???

Posted By: Kelley Jones on October 13, 2005 Why is it that when some people see a pastor of a church that has a big house or driving an expensive car or wearing expensiving clothing...etc... the first thing that comes to their mind is that the pastor of that church is taking money from "offering" or from the "congregation" or they question the motive of that pastor??? Why do people think they have to be stealing or aren't living right??? Why can't people realize that when you are obedient to God's word and living the way HE wants you to live....God is going to bless you for your obedience and he will give you some of the desires of your heart. Why is it that pastors can't want to have nice things for themselves? Don't they deserve it??? Being a pastor/leading people is not an easy job....and most of the pastor's I know didn't start out with the best of the best.... It all happened over a time period. Pastor's are still "human" Just as much as you want a benz or a lexus or a big house...they want the same things too.. No one thinks differently about rappers or sport players, etc... when they have the best of the best...so why AUTOMATICALLY question a man/woman of God???? Now... There are some pastors out there they may be "stealing" from the church.... But it's like.... people don't even give a pastor the benefit of a doubt that God is just blessing them for being good stewards. If you feel differently.....please let me know!!! God Bless! I agree. Company heads are paid for their work. Many Pastors are on call 24 hours a day. Many of them also have other endeavors such as books and media appearances. Nonetheless, I don't have a problem with them living prosperous, neither do I have a problem with paying my tithes or sowing seeds. Thanks for your blog. Mo Thursday, October 13th 2005 at 7:27PM |

Just know this...some pastors DO take advantage of the church. That's where that perception came from. What you speak of is true...pastors deserve to get paid because they do work, as Monica said, 24 hours a day. Hard to do that....and hold down another job as well. However, even if they are a hypocrit or stealing from the church, we should continue to pay our tithes, because they answer for it in the afterlife...

AMEN!!!!! I agree with you completely. I understand that some pastors do abuse their callings but THEY will have to answer to God! I will not speak ill of any man/woman of God personally that is not my place. They deserve to have the best in life just like we do. They went through the fire and put in their time now they are reaping the harvest God promised them!
