Position Title: Jamaican Patois Linguist Reports to: Shift Supervisor and PM Position Overview: Cleared Jamaican Patois Linguists needed to work On-Call Project for a Government contract based in Northern VA. Responsibilities:Position requires monitoring, translating, transcribing, interpreting, performing translation/transcription quality control and validation services. Linguist shall be responsible for providing reliable and accurate translations, transcriptions, and/or summaries of Jamaican Patios language materials into English. Linguists will perform multifunctional duties: i.e. when not interpreting, you may be required to translate or transcribe source materials and/or perform quality control functions on materials completed by other linguists. Perform as required, administrative duties related to tasks. Requirements: Must be Clearable US Citizens only. Native level in Jamaican Patios/English. Must pass at an Alta Level 3 in speaking and reading comprehension. Knowledge: Must possess an excellent command of the English language with ability to provide clear and concise oral and written communication. Ability to comprehend the specified foreign language at native level in conversation and the skills necessary to read and understand its various registers. Knowledge of slang and colloquial expressions in the specified language and how to accurately translate them to English. Basic typing/word processing skills. Skills: Cross-functional, Cross-cultural. Abilities: Be flexible to project schedule change requests and the possibility of working on evenings, weekends or on a rotating basis. Security Clearance Requirements: Active security clearance or DSS Secret strongly preferred. Employment Background Requirements: You must be able to successfully pass an employment background check (not to be confused with a government security clearance investigation) and drug screening as a condition of employment Physical Demands Office environment - reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
