Temporary Agencies

Temporary Agencies
Posted By: Genette Brooks on February 06, 2012

Today I searched online at Temp agencies and found home based jobs that said TElecommute/home based. From sewing to medical office I am not lying. I searched for jobs at M&T and Citizens bank and found home based mortgage processor and home bassed HR/Financial Recruiter. I have to say I am a bit puzzeled that all the companies that I applied to ask EEO questions online before the application can be sent most of them have the option to decline whether or not you want to answer the question and some of them don't I find often that when I put down my race rather than declining to answer I don't get the job one had an automatic response saying that I was not qualified for the job and then I removed my race on the same job application and applied and it said your application has been processed. Decline to answer race questions. If there is no room for declination I am also Native American so sometimes I put that, Sometimes I put African American and Sometimes I put Two or more races because the majority of us are mixed with more than one race like myself. I am not ashamed of my color but I don't think EEO questions should be asked as a part of the application.

They will see what color I am once they interview me, and behold they are normally shocked to see that I am black because of my voice. Over the phone it sounds like a little girl but a professional voice that is good for business. I did have a hard time in high school trying to call cabs or get jobs because they would ask to speak with my mom. Finally when I grew up my voice is still soft but it is more professional and I can get across to people better. I Had to vent it is just annoying trying to find a job and the one obstacle being my race that has prevented me from working thus far. Sometimes though because my background is HR it can be my sex becuase they are apt to pick a male in high powered positions rather than a female, and I have experienced that also. I just have to outshine my apponents by having a better education or better experience record or better way of presenting myself at the interview. Sometimes you can find that you do all the right things and still are passed over for the job. Keep trying and don't give up. Race is not an obstacle. I am proud of my race. I am proud of my people both Native American, West Indian, French and African. I just don't think that that should be a deciding factor as to whether or not I get a job.
