Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 27, 2012 3D Computer Animation Faculty -- DETAILED DESCRIPTION: The School of Film and Animation (SoFA) is inviting applications for a faculty position in 3D computer animation. We seek an active artist dedicated to the education of filmmakers/animators. The candidate should demonstrate substantial aptitude in the art of animation and Maya software. Courses will involve teaching undergraduate and graduate students the aesthetics and techniques of modeling, animation (including rigging), lighting and texturing. Additional experience in any of the following areas is desirable: acting for animation, cinema production, 2D animation and compositing, Mel/Python scripting or other programming languages. In addition to a full teaching load, responsibilities include career advising for students and continuing research, scholarship and creative activity. SoFA is currently re-visioning its 3D animation curriculum and we expect the new faculty to make significant contributions to this effort. 2D Animation Faculty -- DETAILED DESCRIPTION: The School of Film and Animation (SOFA) is inviting applications for a faculty position in 2D animation. The candidate should demonstrate substantial aptitude in all forms of character and experimental animation, particularly traditional 2D computer techniques. Courses will involve teaching undergraduate and graduate students the aesthetics and techniques of single frame motion media production. Additional experience in any of the following areas is desirable: acting, physical expression, character performance, cinema production, fine arts, and performing arts. In addition to a full teaching load, responsibilities include career advising for students, assisting in curriculum development, participating in research, scholarship and creative activity, and providing service to the institute, college, and department.
