Ashanti Bares Her Braveheart

Posted By: Loretta Moss on March 09, 2012 After an almost four year hiatus, Ashanti is one step closer to releasing her fifth studio album, the aptly titled “Braveheart.” During a listening party in midtown Manhattan yesterday, the 31-year old singer divulged not only her album’s new title, but the cover art (?) and eleven singles from the project as well. Featuring collaborations with Keyshia Cole, Busta Rhymes, R. Kelly, Rico Love and more, Ashanti said she wore several hats during the year and a half long recording process, including that of CEO. Choosing to release music this time around on her own Written Entertainment Label, the “Rain on Me” singer says she had full creative control, and think fans will like the dramatic departure from the kind of songs she did on her highly underrated 2008 album “The Declaration.” “I think there are songs that are very different,” she tells AOL. ‘Declaration’ told a story — read the tracklisting. This record, I went for drum-heavy and melodies. There are more street records.” Look for “Braveheart” to make it’s way into record stores this spring. In the meantime, rumor has it the video will debut this coming Monday, March 13th. Tracklisting: 1. ‘Mine’ 2. ‘Get it’ 3. ‘The Woman You Love’ feat.
