Department: 027121 - Information Technology - Support Services Position: 00013100 - Technology Director Grade or Band: 4TH This position will provide leadership and direction to the Information Technology Services technology Support Services department. The quality of our user support services is closely associated with the University's perception of Information Technology Services as a whole. This position is responsible for implementing the infrastructure and services needed for delivery of the highest quality of technology support for the University community. This position is responsible for setting clear goals, objectives and expectations in the management of the functions and services delivered by the Support Services teams. Primary responsibilities include: - Serve as a liaison to the Vice President of Information Technology Services for end user computing support services, providing oversight and leadership for all of Support Services including: - Responsibilities for end user support services, i.e. Desktop Support, Help Desk, and Training and Communications. - Oversight for ITS Research Services, providing leadership and guidance for the ITS faculty computing and statistical support team - Responsibilities for ITS Media Technology Services, leading and overseeing classroom technology implementations and event support as well as audio services and production, cable television, graphics, photography, project management, video services, and Newton Campus technology support. - Directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's customer service policies, objectives, and initiatives. - Develops and establishes procedures and policies governing customer correspondence and the handling of customer complaints. - Implement new policies and processes to mature the overall support and service delivery levels within the organization - Research and implement new technologies and services that enhance educational and communications delivery. The Technology Director will continually evaluate best industry practices in comparison to internal systems and needed resources. The Technology Director must have a broad perspective in order to provide a foundation for decision making by senior management in ITS and the University as well as manage the daily operations of the Support Services department. This entails establishing priorities and setting goals, interpreting policy, practices and procedures, allocating resources, managing staff, working with departments to identify and address their needs and ensuring the Support Services department continues to grow/develop to serve the evolving needs of ITS. * Must have a Bachelors degree in related field *A minimum of 7-10 years of increasing responsibility in end-user computing support is required. *Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage the needs of multiple constituents at all levels of the organization. *Demonstrated business and financial acumen. *Previous management and supervision of end-user computing support functions is critical. *Ability to work in a demanding fast-pasted environment while managing multiple projects and competing priorities is essential. *Excellent oral and written communication skills and project management skills are required. Preferred: *Experience working within higher education is preferred. Boston College conducts background checks as part of the hiring process.
