Posted By: How May I Help You NC on March 20, 2012 The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is seeking to fill the position of Director of Continuing Studies. This person will lead a comprehensive program providing professional development, training, consultation or research services to individuals, businesses, healthcare, government and non-profit organizations. Training is delivered through certificate programs, conferences, workshops, short courses and online courses. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and innovative leader with the vision, skills and background to reach higher levels of achievement in an environment that values community engagement and entrepreneurial leadership. Continuing Studies is part of the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Stockton College is an innovative, residential, public master’s college with a student body of 8000. Primarily an undergraduate institution, Stockton also offers selected graduate and post-baccalaureate programs, largely in professional areas. The college is located on a 1600-acre campus in southern New Jersey near Atlantic City and the Jersey shore, 1 hour from Philadelphia, and 2 1/2 hours from New York City or Washington, D.C. Reports To: Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies Job Scope: The Director has responsibility for non-credit instruction and provides both administrative and programmatic leadership. Continuing Studies currently manages multi-year training grants in the areas of addiction and child welfare services. The unit also manages the new Center for Public Safety and Security. Supporting elements to the unit include an on-campus conference center with food service operations and a major off-campus resort facility (including hotel rooms, conference space and two golf courses), non-credit registration and cash management software, marketing support, IT support, and distance learning support. The college also has satellite instructional space in Atlantic City, Hammonton and Southern Ocean County. The ideal candidate will be one who has at least 5 years of experience in an administrative role directing all or part of a successful college-level continuing education program. The ideal candidate must relate well with faculty, trainers, support staff and key internal and external constituencies. The person must show evidence of success in dealing with programmatic concepts, marketing, grant procurement and other administrative tasks. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral, written and technology-driven communication skills, and be able to work with diverse campus and community groups. Job Responsibilities: 1. Provide administrative and programmatic leadership for the Continuing Studies unit including the formulation and pursuit of unit goals and objectives. 2. Prepare, manage and oversee the annual budget for the unit including the oversight of all expense and income-related activity. 3. Promote collaborative relationships with key college units, faculty and staff and external constituencies such as agencies, local non-profit organizations, and the business and healthcare communities. 4. Supervise, train, empower, develop and evaluate unit staff. 5. Provide leadership in developing and promoting non-credit programming and applied and community-based research projects that generate surplus revenue for the unit. 6. Promote and support regional economic development; address regional workforce, economic and community needs. 7. Provide leadership to ensure continuous quality improvement and service excellence in the Continuing Studies unit. 8. Develop and implement Continuing Studies policy and procedures, in consultation with the Dean and unit staff. 9. Promote development of innovative learning environments, including initiatives that expand the use of various digital technologies. 10. Assure compliance with applicable unit, college, and state policies and practices. 11. Identify ways to use non-credit programming to better serve international students. 12. Collect and process information relevant to key performance indicators. 13. Provide oversight in the acquisition and management of grants and training/consulting contracts. 14. Represent the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies at various internal and external events 15. Other duties as assigned by the Provost and Executive Vice President or the Dean, School of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Education: The successful candidate should have at least a Master’s Degree in a field related to the position requirements. Compensation: Commensurate with education, experience and track record of success. This is a 12-month, full-time, position with an excellent benefits package.
