And with VA Patient Satisfaction Scores leading the healthcare industry, you'll be joining one of the most respected facilities in the Nation.The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS) is searching for a Occopational Therapist to join their dynamic healthcare team. The therapist is responsible for a large variety of inpatients and outpatients from psychiatry, medicine, intermediate care, rehabilitation and the nursing home, and assumes responsibility for any patient groups as may be required due to departmental rotation. Plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy treatment modalities requiring complex and specialized knowledge/skills. Thetherapist must also establish measurable treatment goals and appropriate discharge plans. The treatment modalities may include neuromuscular facilitation, perceptual motor integration, sensory techniques, application of splints/adaptive devices, work simplification protection techniques, positioning, energy conservation methods, progressive resistive exercise, craft task oriented activities, providing patient/family education regarding disability and cognitive behavior approaches. These treatment interventions are conducted individually and/or in-groups. Plans with the patient and care givers/significant others establishing eventual discharge plans. discharge plans may include equipment needs, home evaluations and alterations as well as outside agencies/community resource involvement. Serves as the sole occupational therapist on the interdisciplinary team. Attends scheduled patient planning meetings with other disciplines and contributes information effecting the team's goals with the patients. Independently solves complex problems related to his/her sub specialty adapting and modifying treatment plans, activities and procedures to meet the existing and changing needs of patients.
