The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS) is searching for a Occopational Therapist to join their dynamic healthcare team. The therapist is responsible for a large variety of inpatients and outpatients from psychiatry, medicine, intermediate care, rehabilitation and the nursing home, and assumes responsibility for any patient groups as may be required due to departmental rotation.

Therapist will evaluate and assesses neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal systems imparirments, sensory integrative needs, cognitive/preceptual deficits, psycho-social functions, interpersonal relationships and a broad range of activities of daily living needs such as basic self-care, personal safety, transfer capabilities, life skills, avocational interests, pre vocational, and vocational needs.

Primary evaluation instruments and procedures the therapist administers, but is not limited to are; manual muscle test, joint range of motion, manipulative dexterity test, coordination test, interest checklist, and occupational history.

Plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy treatment modalities requiring complex and specialized knowledge/skills.

Plans with the patient and care givers/significant others establishing eventual discharge plans. discharge plans may include equipment needs, home evaluations and alterations as well as outside agencies/community resource involvement.

Serves as the sole occupational therapist on the interdisciplinary team. Attends scheduled patient planning meetings with other disciplines and contributes information effecting the team's goals with the patients. Independently solves complex problems related to his/her sub specialty adapting and modifying treatment plans, activities and procedures to meet the existing and changing needs of patients.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday
