Mr. & Ms. Drake State crowned
Posted By: Elynor Moss on April 05, 2012 A new Mr. and Ms. Drake State Technical College have been crowned for the 2012-2013 school year. Orlando Petty was crowned Mr. Drake State. Senora Mack was crowned Ms. Drake State. As Mr. and Ms. Drake State, Petty and Mack will serve on the Student Government Association Executive Committee, represent the college at community functions and assist with college outreach events. Mr. and Ms. Drake State were chosen based on scores accumulated by a vote of the student body (50 percent of the total score) and a cumulative score from a panel of judges in the areas of introductory speech, talent and formal wear (50 percent of the total score). The judges also selected Mr. and Ms. Photogenic Awards based on photographs submitted for judging. The contestants selected a Mr. GQ and Ms. Congeniality for the male and female contestant, respectively, with the best attitude throughout the process. Petty was also named Mr. GQ and Most Photogenic. He was elected by the student body to serve as the vice president of the Student Government Association for the 2012-2013 school year. Mack was also winner of the talent contest. She performed a modern monologue, “My big black oak tree” by Dierdre Mohommed. Other members of the Drake State Court are: First Runners-Up – Ju’Neil Reece and Darlene Cowan Second Runner-Up – Victoria Boles Talent Winners – Ju’Neil Reece and Senora Mack Most Photogenic – Orlando Petty and Victoria Boles Mr. GQ – Orlando Petty Ms. Congeniality – Victoria Boles.
