Kewanee, IL celebrates grand opening on new Amtrak station

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on April 09, 2012 Posted Online: April 09, 2012, 9:04 am On April 13th, federal, state and local officials as well as representatives from Amtrak and the Illinois Department of Transportation will be in Kewanee to celebrate the grand opening of the city's new Amtrak Station. Scheduled speakers at the ceremony include State Rep. Don Moffitt; State Senator Darin LaHood; Ann Schneider, Illinois Department of Transportation Secretary; Thomas Carper, Amtrak Chairman; Michael Rasmussen from Senator Mark Kirk's Office; and, Kewanee Mayor, Bruce Tossell. Speakers will arrive on the Illinois Zephyr Amtrak train from Galesburg at 8:09 am, at which time the ceremony will begin. Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn, was invited, as well.
