Grambling coach Doug Williams suing school for breach of contract
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on April 16, 2012 Grambling State football coach Doug Williams has filed suit claiming the school reneged on its contract promises with him. The state court suit filed in Baton Rouge says Williams' contract was never approved by the University of Louisiana System governing board and the school is now trying to pressure him to sign a reduced deal on a "take it or leave it" basis. Williams also claims the school failed to pay promised bonuses to him and his staff for winning the 2011 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship. Williams did not immediately answer a request for comment. A statement from UL System president Randy Moffett said good-faith negotiations had been conducted for almost a year, and Williams was offered one of the best contracts in conference.
