Posted By: How May I Help You NC on April 17, 2012 UDC to Host 11th Annual Black Press Seminar “The Press & Presidential Election, 2012” (Washington, DC) – UDC’s Journalism Club will hold its Annual Black Press Seminar and Workshops on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Van Ness Campus – 4200 Connecticut Ave., NW in the Windows Lounge in an afternoon and evening session. The editorial forum, featuring outstanding black journalists, will begin at 6:30 PM and is co-sponsored by the new Department of Communications. It will be conducted by Maureen Bunyan of WJLA News-7. The forum will feature Aski Muhammad, columnist and talk show host of WPFW, Dr. Levy Daugherty, publisher of the Kingmaker Magazine, conservative Republican columnist, Raynard Jackson, President & CEO of Raynard Jackson & Assoc., LLC, Aaron Gilchrist, anchor/reporter at WRC TV, news director and radio personality Gloria Minott, and TV personality Donna L. Harris. From 1:00-2:30 PM, the Public Relations Workshop “How to Start Your Own PR Firm” will be conducted by Leila McDowell, managing director of communications for Advancement Project. Journalist and historian A. Peter Bailey will conduct the journalism and writing workshop titled “How to Start Writing Your Memoirs and Biography” from 2:30-3:30 PM. Workshop participants will be presented with certificates during a ceremony in the afternoon. Participants are advised to register during the afternoon workshop. Refreshments will be served during the editorial forum break. Both the workshop and the educational forum are free and open to the public.
