The press is invited to attend. Mutende will conclude his two-day visit to New Orleans with a meeting in the mayor’s office. Dr. Nchor Okorn, a native Nigerian and professor of African World Studies at Dillard, and Dr. James Lyons, Dillard’s interim president, will accompany him. Dillard University’s School of Social Sciences, its department of political science, and its African World Network Organization are sponsoring Mutende’s trip from Uganda. Yesterday Mutende gave a lecture to Dillard students entitled “African Development Opportunities for Private and Public Partnership: The Uganda Experience.” He pointed to private-public partnerships in South Africa and Mozambique, in areas such as infrastructure and utilities, as models for Uganda. Mutende encouraged business students to look to Uganda and the African continent for business opportunities as they move forward in their careers. Mutende is a development economist by trade. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the New School University in New York City and a master of business administration from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. He is a member of Uganda’s National Oil and Gas Policy Task Force of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development. He previously served as assistant director for the Uganda Investment Authority.
