RAMS News: WSSU Students Win State-Wide Competition

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 06, 2012 FEATURED Content Students from the Clinical Laboratory Science Department at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) took top honors in the Student Quiz Bowl sponsored by the North Carolina Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. The competition was held in conjunction with Carolinas Clinical Connection, the annual continuing education event for laboratory professionals in North and South Carolina which was held recently in Charlotte. Students on the WSSU winning team were Sarah Shikangah, Stephanie Nesmith, Alexis Avery and Naquanna Cross with Dr. Andy Meixner, assistant professor of clinical lab sciences as the faculty advisor. The WSSU team defeated students from Wake Forest University and Sandhills Community College in the state-wide competition. The Student Quiz Bowl is designed to provide students an opportunity to compete using the knowledge they have gained and to help prepare them for their certification exams. It also allows students to network with those from other institutions as well as with laboratory professionals from throughout the state.
