JAGUAR News: Spelman Students Eager to Hear Words of Wisdom From Commencement Speaker Oprah Winfrey

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on May 16, 2012 Global media mogul and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey will deliver the commencement address to the Spelman College class of 2012 on Sunday, May 20. The Mississippi native, who received an honorary degree from Spelman College in 1993, will also be recognized with the National Community Service Award. Honorary degrees will be bestowed upon public health advocate Dazon Dixon Diallo, C’86, founder and president of SisterLove Inc., one of the first HIV/AIDS non-profit organizations in the Southeast founded by a woman and devoted to women; and highly-acclaimed actress, playwright and professor Anna Deavere Smith.
