New MCAT Self-Assessment Tool for Pre-Med Students

New MCAT Self-Assessment Tool for Pre-Med Students
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on June 15, 2012

Each year, more than 75,000 aspiring medical students take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT®). Today, the AAMC is pleased to launch the first MCAT self-assessment, an online study tool to help focus the studying efforts of future doctors.

Different than a traditional practice exam, the new tool includes more questions to cover all of the MCAT content areas, and is designed to help students identify individual strengths and weaknesses. Using the self-assessment results, students can more effectively personalize their studying and maximize the time they allocate for each category within an exam section (including biological sciences, verbal reasoning, and physical sciences).

Highlights of The Official MCAT® Self-Assessment Package include:

Hundreds of questions from previously administered MCAT exams;
A confidence survey comparing self-reported confidence to actual performance;
An analytic summary showing individual performance and comparing it to the average examinee’s performance on the overall section, each content category, and each cognitive skill;
A review feature providing direct access to individual questions and solutions by category;
Guidance for using the self-assessment results to prepare study plans; and
A downloadable PDF summary of all performance results.

To learn more about The Official MCAT® Self-Assessment Package, visit www.aamc.org/mcatsap or view the tutorials at www.e-mcat.com. If you would like to view a demo of the new MCAT self-assessment tool, please contact Brooke Saltzer at (202) 828-0419 or bsaltzer@aamc.org.
