|
Posted By: Hija Chang on July 12, 2012 HARTLY, Delaware - For the fifth consecutive year Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) will broadcast the premiere Historically Black College Football events to a national radio audience. In addition, HSRN plans to aggressively expand its multimedia component with more TV and pod cast content via the new website www.HSRN.com. "No other company has broadcast as many HBCU events as we have since we launched in 2007," says Omarr Bashir, CEO. "This year we plan to become the go to place for HBCU sports content before, during, and after games. Our schedule allows us to paint a real picture of the African American national pastime." This year's schedule features teams from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) with three of the four conference champions from 2011. The broadcast season begins with the Labor Day Weekend Kickoff - four games in four days - featuring two classics (John Merritt & AT&T Nation's) and a showdown between two nationally ranked teams in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge. Each broadcast begins with the "HBCU Tailgate" pregame show one hour before kickoff every Saturday. SportsGroove TV's "HSRN HBCU Sports Nation" will preview and recap the games each week on HSRN.com. This will mark the fourth year that fans will be able to listen via Sirius/XM Satellite Radio and the second year of streaming on tunein.com. Contact: Omarr Bashir, CEO Mark Gray, Director Of Multimedia (302) 492-1132 About Heritage Sports Radio Network Founded in 2006, HSRN was created to provide a sports voice for the HBCU community. For over 100 years HBCU's have participated in collegiate athletics with little to no media coverage. Stars like Walter Payton, Doug Williams, and Michael Strahan are just a few of the many superstars who were HBCU athletes. There are approximately 7 million fans of HBCU sports who were media orphans in search of a home. HSRN is the only national radio network dedicated to HBCU sports. Our goal is to fuse the greats of the past with the stars of today to showcase the significance of this unique colorful and underserved sports community.
