Serving a Purpose

Posted By: Terance Williams on October 26, 2005 Everyone in someones life ultimately should be serving some kind of a pupose or cease to exist in that persons life. Now I know at first this may sound kind of cruel or even selfish. But bare wit me a second and hear me out. Think about all the people that you have in your life. People outside of the workplace that you dont have to interact with and you will see that all of them should be in some form or another is serving a purpose. If not, you need to get rid of them cuz they can cause you problems or undue stress that we will not and do not need in this day and time. By nature people are social beings and do not want to be alone. Here is a quick list of the main core of people w/purpose that most people have in their life. The Family : Self-explanitroy The True Friend : I define this person as the one that you know will help you bury the body if it ever came down to that. Without asking questions and without a moments hesitation. The Cutt Buddy : This person is the one you call to scratch that itch whenever it itches. You should be able deduct what I am gettin at. This is person is only active in ones life when single and not actively seeing anyone on that kind of level. You have make sure that it there is mutual agreement on the relationship. If not this person can confuse lustfullship with companionship. The Shoulder : The person that you can go let you problems off your chest to and get compassion from. That person you can go cry on their shoulder. One that will not criticize your bad decisions but in a sense agree with them. The Informant : The person you go to get any and all the info you may need on someone or something. This person is often the person you dont tell your secrets to cuz you know that they will get out no matter how much they tell you they "promise not to tell". In the south we call this person the mouth of the south. Also this person doesnt realize that you only deal with them for the info. Now, some people can and do have dual roles. For example - the cutt buddy can also be the informant or the shoulder. And in some cases you may have more than one of these people in your life. Now the reason I say you have to get rid of anyone else is that these people tend to fit in one of the following categories: The Leech : The person that latches on to you because of what you got or what you can get. Your car, money or women/men. Or any other worldly possession you may have. The Crab : This person is always trying to get something from you. Borrowing something or asking you to do this or do that for them and are not returning the favors (not serving a purpose). Just pissin you off all the time. The Weak : This person is around just to feed off your strengths or to seem like they are more like you than they really are. It is always kind of hard to spot this person cuz they have become very adept at hiding the fact that they are weak. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with leaning on a true friend (see above def.) for support but when the person isn't serving a useful purpose then they gots to be let go. These are the basic categories and you may have variations of sorts to them. But for the most part this is usually how it pans out. Be mindful that some personnel of the family can also be in need of getting let go. They are usually the ones you spot first. Just take a look at someone you know (preferrably someone from work or school) and listen to them complain or rave about the people in their life and you will see that these are usually the people they talk about. You are so on point. Hopefully people will take heed to what you said b/c it is the truth. I speak from experience. We all need to periodically evaluate the reason(s) people are in our lives. Rattla' 4 life! SSSSSSSS

That is sooo funny and so true! Friends can bring you up and pull you down all at the same time. I guess you just have to control which you will allow them to do. I am definently forwarding this to some people!!!
