Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 27, 2012  The College of the Mainland Board of Trustees is currently seeking applicants and nominees for the position of COLLEGE OF THE MAINLAND PRESIDENT College of the Mainland (COM) is a comprehensive, two-year community college serving the mainland portion of Galveston County. The college is situated on a beautiful 120-acre campus in Texas City, 30 miles southeast of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city, and 15 miles from Galveston Island, a resort community. The more than 4,100 credit students enrolled each Fall may earn associate degrees, certificates, or complete the first two years of a baccalaureate degree at COM. More than 7,000 students enroll each year in continuing education classes. Our student body is approximately 42 percent minority that includes 24 percent Hispanic and 18 percent African American. COM offers Associate degree programs in 31 areas of study and Certificates in 24 workforce areas. Our associate degree nursing program, allied health programs, criminal justice program, and process technology program enjoy increasing enrollments and provide a vital and valued workforce to area cities, hospitals and industries. APPLICATION PROCESS To apply, please submit these four (4) separate documents: 1. A letter of application that succinctly addresses the opportunities and challenges identified and how your experience and professional qualifications prepare you to serve the needs of COM (not to exceed five pages) 2. A current resume including an email address and cellular telephone number 3. A reference list with the names, home and business telephone numbers, and email addresses of eight references: three supervisors (one board member), two direct reports and three faculty members from current or former institutions 4. Candidate Cover Sheet which is a two-page synopsis of your professional career. You can download the template for this form at http://www.com.edu/presidentialsearch.
