Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 27, 2012 DESCRIPTION OF JOB: Provide leadership for the College in the area of institutional assessment and research to support strategic and academic planning, accountability, effectiveness, and outcomes assessment. Oversee, facilitate, or engage in essential processes including research and development, data management, benchmarking and projecting, and external and internal reporting. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion. A review of applications will begin on July 9th and continue until the position is filled. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Leadership and Planning a) Participate in developing data management policies, procedures and processes and implementing improvements to information flow, quality and timeliness. b) Develop and implement plans for assessment and research that generate information to inform department-, school- and College-level decision-makers and that align with accreditation requirements, program evaluations, and school and department assessment plans. c) Provide leadership in coordinating the college’s assessment committee and implementing a college-wide survey policy. d) Effectively hire, orient, manage, and lead staff in the areas of institutional assessment and research. Lead and coordinate project teams as required. 2) Research and Data Gathering, Analysis, and Communication a) Provide leadership to gather, process, coordinate, analyze, and communicate data to inform decision-making and improve effectiveness at the College. Manage and strengthen a central data warehouse, including both college data and assessment data, to support decision-making at different levels. Publish and maintain a website that provides the campus community easy access to commonly requested information. b) Provide assistance and directions for internal data users to gather useful data either through available reports or new data collection. c) Collaborate with other offices to administer institutional surveys and ensure satisfactory participation rates. 3) Accountability Reporting a) Insure the College is in compliance with all federal, state, and local reporting requirements b) Oversee internal and external data reporting 4) Other duties as assigned NECESSARY EDUCATION or WORK EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree required, earned doctorate strongly preferred. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: a. Ability to create project-appropriate research methods, conduct statistical analysis, and clearly communicate results through multiple formats (presentations, writing, electronic, etc.) b. Interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of groups—staff, faculty, students, alumni, etc. c. Attention to detail, accuracy, and data confidentiality d. Able to work independently with minimum supervision e. Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate with individuals from other departments to accomplish required tasks. f. Advanced knowledge and experience working with complex statistical and informational databases, creating custom reports, analyzing information for accuracy, moving information between databases and merging information with other desktop applications. Experience in the use of SPSS. g. Knowledgeable in PC compatible equipment and Microsoft operating systems and Office programs. h. Demonstrated project leadership skills in collaborative and leadership roles, including effectively leading teams toward timely completion of specific goals. i. The ability to learn skills, processes, and concepts continuously and teach as appropriate. Skills and Experience Desired a. Knowledge of and experience in higher education research and administration, preferably at an academic institution, are highly desired. b. Experience with Jenzabar or similar administrative software system. c. Supervisory experience OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways.
